Fancy Letters.

I love reading books that have those elaborate letters at the beginning of each chapter. Over the past few nights I've experimented with my own letters, keeping Johanna Basford's gorgeous designs in mind when getting stuck on detailing. Take a look, they were so much fun to do:

Candle Butterfly Lamp Shade.

A couple of weeks ago I manged to access an Interior Design subject on my Moodle that I was going to study (before unenrolling in the course) and in one attempt, I guessed the password! I didn't think it would actually work and I feel a little guilty..

Out of the three assignments for the semester, I was intrigued by two. The first task is to create a lamp shade out of recycled materials. I created a trial 'lamp shade' with black paper and hole punched it with butterflies and wrapped it around a drinking glass. It's somewhat recycled as I ripped the paper from a notebook and used a household glass ;)

A Candle sits in the middle of the glass so it's
not really a 'lamp shade'

I'll soon post my next attempt at designing/creating a lamp shade and the second task  that intrugued me.

Anticipation.

These heavy showers have been so lovely recently. There's just something reassuring about hearing the rain on the roof and the windows, keeping me safe tucked inside my room.

But as wonderful as it's been, and as much as I'll dread the heat, I'm actually eager for Spring. I noticed many of the stores have released their Spring/Summer collections which are much less bland and undesirable as the Winter ranges have been.

I also managed to pick up some new materials to experiment with as there's been so many DIYs I've found to try over the past week.

Matte and Glossy Mod Podge, Glass Beads, 3 fabric cuts,
butterfly hole punch, Scrapbook Paper Pad.
I'm excited to get started!

Watercolour Rose.

I painted this the other night out to find out whether I was any good at drawing roses, as they look quite tricky. I think for a first real attempt it doesn't look too bad! Especially considering I used watercolour, one of the more unpredictable mediums- with some dark areas reinforced with a black pencil.

I'm currently very inspired by fashion illustration this week and am thinking about doing a short course in October that goes over some fashion illustration tips. It's $370 for the course (Either 3 days or 6 weeks, it says both :s) which I'm willing to work hard to save up for. I've also been practicing some illustration skills and might draw a few designs up and post them on here in a few days. Wish me luck!
